How Our Grant Program Works

Through the generosity of donors, sponsors, and community partners, Hometown Heroes awards grants to organizations that protect, serve, and strengthen our communities. Below you'll find an overview of our application process, organization selection criteria, and how grant funding decisions are made.

  • Hometown Heroes aims to raise money for life saving equipment, training, and other critical resources for first responders throughout our community. Applications open each year in the fall and are open to organizations within a 60-mile radius to Fargo, ND. Organizations have a maximum request limit of $7,500 and must detail out what will be purchased with the funds, what it will be used for, and the impact it will have on our community.

  • All grant applications are reviewed and evaluated by a committee comprised of local industry experts, first responders, and community partners. Funding recommendations are based on community impact, demonstrated need, and the anticipated benefit of the requested equipment, training, or resources.

  • Proceeds raised through Hometown Heroes fundraising events are distributed following the annual grant review process. Organizations are ranked based on committee scoring, with funding awarded beginning with the highest-ranked application and continuing until all available funds have been allocated.
